i’m currently doing a case study on NME and IPC media for uni… and stumbled across the fact that NME is apparently a mens lifestyle magazine…

NOT ACCEPTABLE…

so i emailed them… hope they reply! :)

Right, I appreciate you probably don’t have a lot of control over the way your portrayed by IPC Media… but why are you classed as a Mens Lifestyle Mag?

I don’t mean to go all feminist on you, but we can all listen and enjoy music,… so your cutting your reader margins in two… and quite frankly it pisses me off… that i am buying into something that is not really for me… when i can see no reasons as to why it shouldn’t be! Plus how can you allow yourselves to be classed in the same catagory as Nuts… If I were you I’d be pissed off too!
So…. tell your friends at IPC Media to take a step into the 21st Century and realise that not all women want to read about Cheryl Cole and the new range at New Look…. please?

heres a go at my first review. x

I went and saw the Noisettes last night (Liverpool 02 Academy), and WOW, that girl is ELECTRIC (and that is a word that barely appears in my vocabulary). I mean, who does knee skids, and manages to look cool, especially when they are over the age of about 10 (if they are lucky!)? I am yet to see anyone else with the stage presence of Shoniwa! Kicking off her heels in the first few bars of ‘Saturday Night’, gave a vibe where you couldn’t help but dance along too… I don’t blame her taking off the killers, and looking at the bandage on her knee, it looked as though she was fully aware of the risks of dancing in them.

I liked the set list, but was confused with the choice of encores… which was a selection of album tracks from the two albums; as opposed to the sing-a-long songs you normally find. However, this was acceptable by her magical appearance on the bar, which was amazing, especially for us shorties at the back :) (makes me wanna hang out at the bar- even more haha!). I hadn’t previously discovered the first album ‘Automatons’ but I certainly plan on taking a listen after the selection of songs that were played from it, in fact I personally would venture to saying that I preferred it more than the current pop-influenced style. Hopefully now they have gained a good strong fan-base, they can revert back to their initial style, as they are on to something GOOOOD :).
